What is meant by the term mild heart attack ? Isn’t any heart attack serious ? is the cause really all a matter of stress and diet ? how does that impact body . What I found out was – Heart attacks can be described as “mild” or “severe” based on overall function and effect on the heart thereafter. Suppose you had a septal wall or inferior wall infarction; while not good news, it would be much more preferable to having an anterior wall infarction. Here’s why; the amount of cardiac output that is contributed by each section of the left ventricle varies. Hence, if you lose a major thick section of heart muscle (like the anterior wall) your prognosis is decidedly poorer than losing a much thinner section, like the inferior wall or septum. Which wall is affected is due to which coronary artery was blocked, and the position of the blockage within the artery is important too; was it at the far end or near end. Some disasterously place blockages (high grade left main occlusion) used to be called “widow-makers” because they were right at the beginning of the largest artery that delivered blood to the most important section of the heart. Block it there and you’re almost guaranteed that the pt is going to die, as in “massive heart attack. ” Ralph
